black hole by charles burns

"Our brains are too large... we think too much and it drives us all crazy. We've inherited this amazing gift of intelligence and we've squandered it... pissed it away. We'd be happy if we could live simple lives, enjoy each other and... I mean live on a farm or something and grow things... you know, get back to the earth... but hey, don't listen to me, I mean, what do I know?"
"We'd be in the middle of kissing and making out and I'd do this thing where I'd suddenly pull back and look at her... she'd be lying there in the dark with her eyes closed, mouth open and her tongue sticking out. She looked so stupid and messed up--it kind of creeped me out, but at the same time it made me want her even more."
"What we had was so strong... it was incredible, we were in love and nothing else mattered. It was like, 'Fuck the rest of the world, we don't need 'em.' We figured there was no way it was ever going to end, how could something that felt so good ever turn bad? But it happened, one day it was just gone. We woke up, looked at each other and it was over."
"The one thing that drove me nuts was their fucking garbage--they left it everywhere. They had this whole rap about how they were striking out on their own, building a new society and all, but now that they didn't have their mommies to pick up after them, they turned the woods into a dump. They fucked up everything... it broke my heart."
